Best videogames played in 2025 - Adventures
Welcome to my first videogames post! As one of my main hobbies, I wanted to talk about some great games I played in 2025. This time, adventure games! I'll create follow-up posts about other genres so this remains not so long.
American Arcadia
I loved this one, from the creators of Call of the Sea (and looking forward to Call of the Elder Gods!). It's an adventure about escaping a TV show where you are an actor since your birth, mixing a light 2D platformer with some puzzles and controlling two characters. The voice acting is supreme!
Split Fiction
This year's co-op adventure from Hazelight (A Way Out, It Takes Two) has been over the top. Two young writers go to Evil Corp Inc. to get plugged into a machine which transport them to their own novel's worlds. Played it with my girlfriend and we loved it. The gameplay is the best part, introducing new and fun mechanics every now and then.
Tinykin
Not so much to say about this one. A game inspired by old 3D collect-a-thon platformers that works flawless and is fun enough to 100% it without getting bored. The level design is great, and the feeling when controlling the main character is top notch.
Death Stranding: Director's Cut
One of the children of world famous Mr. Hideo Kojima. The story is interesting enough to keep you playing, because the gameplay is quite dull and the secondary deliveries are a big nope. Beware really long cutscenes! Last one lasts more than an hour. I recommend it anyway.
Last two and the big ones!
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
I admit that I almost passed up this game. It looked beautiful, but it turns out that I hate turn based combat. Then, I watched a video about it where the story premise was made known to me, and man, what a premise! It sounded so interesting that I bought the game (welp, if I didn't like it, I could refund it). Some days later: I was rolling credits. Yeah, the turn based combat in this game is fun, but I don't click with it, so there is a lot of optional content I haven't played. Anyway, the art, the music and the story are SO GOOD that you can't miss this game.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
I will start saying that I 112%'ed + 5th Pantheon Hollow Knight multiple times, as it's my top2 game ever (just after Outer Wilds). The wait for Silksong has been really rough, but the moment where they announced the release date lives rent free on my head. This game is absolutely good, it expands everything Hollow Knight built, leaving it almost as a tech demo. The movement is great, the scenery is beautiful, the non-linearity is incredible, the bosses are superb and the combat is top notch. Beware its difficulty though!
